David Nanigian, Ph.D., CFP®, is the Dr. Thomas Warschauer Endowed Professor of Finance and the director of personal financial planning programs in San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business. His mission is to empower his students to become the best personal financial planners that they can be!
Prior to joining San Diego State University at the beginning of this academic year, Dr. Nanigian held faculty positions at Cal State Fullerton, The American College, and Penn State University. He teaches courses on personal financial planning and performs research that helps people make better investment decisions. He has published 13 peer-reviewed research papers in journals such as the Financial Planning Review and the Journal of Financial Planning. Dr. Nanigian also serves as an associate editor for the Financial Services Review, the Journal of Personal Finance, and the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. He has received numerous grants and awards, including a $50,000 TD Ameritrade Institutional NextGen Grant and a Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Award for Outstanding Article in The Journal of Portfolio Management. Nanigian earned CFP certification in 2016 and received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in 2010.
